OOTD: Florals For A Busy Rainy Day

Hello :-)

Today was a busy day, I had a group poster presentation to do that myself and 6 others had spend months preparing at university. I am pleased to say that we passed with a first! All that hard work paid off.

Today I went back to wearing an old favourite tunic top I bought in primark a long time ago. It's funny how some items can last and last and other are something you wear once but then forget about. I teamed this top with a pair of corduroy leggings from M&S that I got for Xmas, they've been such a wardrobe staple, they go with anything and makes a change from ordinary boring leggings. I also wore my trusted Dr Martens boots, which were also a Xmas present (my family clearly know me very well!).

Unfortunately it was raining outside, so I decided to put on my lovely red raincoat with my Crystal Palace FC emblem on it. I am an avid football fan and this jacket is ideal for when you're about to spend over 90 minutes standing in the cold, wet and windy weather (those who don't like football may think I'm crazy!).

So here are the pictures.

Hope you like my choice of outfit... I think my hair needs a trim at the back. I don't do long hair, I like to have a short, layered graduated bob.

Ta ta for now!

Loves xx

Health, Happiness and Body Image

I see so much on the internet these days of posts saying "Learn the difference between curvy and fat" or "She's not curvy, she's fat"

What does it matter? Who made these people the authority to put a label on someone's looks? I doubt these people who make these comments from behind a computer screen would want somebody to analyse their body and label it "average" or "a bit chubby" or "too skinny". Yet for some reason, when a picture is posted online people have to make judgements.

I also see comments like "Oh, she can't be healthy! What's her BMI?!?!" Like it's any of their business what someone elses BMI is, nor do they have the right to judge someone's health just by looking at a photo. I know that you get healthy people and unhealthy people in all shapes and sizes. I see big women who play sports like rugby and spend a lot of time exercising but have the extra weight that is handy in a scrum. I do karate, and believe me, being short and stocky gives a great centre of gravity.

Although I'm not claiming to be the epitome of healthy living, I enjoy healthy food and the occassional treat just like everyone else. Everyone has different bodies that work in different ways and different metabolism. I find I only ever binge if I've been trying to restrict my diet too much, now I've adopted a habit of not restricting myself, sometimes I genuinely just want a chicken salad! Please Note: You are not helping people or doing something for their own good by mocking their image, how pretentious can you be?

It's so easy to become depressed about body image, it's an issue close to home because I've had some highs and lows when it comes to this issue. No body is perfect, and I think it's time we embrace who we are and the bodies we have. I am just going to do what feels good and makes me happy and sometimes that involves karate, swimming and a kick about with a football with my boyfriend. At other times it involves reading, watching trashy TV and going on the internet.

It's time to stop aspiring to be something we're not... We are who we are. Be proud of that & look after yourself!

Holiday Clothes: fashion in sunnier climates!

Hello :-)

So last month I went to Egypt for 2 weeks with my boyfriend and had a lovely, chilled out time so I thought I'd share what I wore whilst I was there.

Dress: Primark
Bolero: Matalan
Sandals: Evans
Dress: Primark
Bolero: As Above
Leggings: New Look
Sandals: As Above

Dress: Evans
Bolero: As Above
Leggings: As Above
Bag: Primark

You might have noticed that my bolero featured in all three outfits but I feel a white bolero can go with pretty much anything. I don't like showing the tops of my arms so I wear this as a more fashionable cover. I love dresses because there's none of that "but this top doesn't go with these bottoms..." Just put in on, add some accessories and go.

I have since dyed my hair brown after coming back to the UK, I got fed up of roots showing.

What do you think of my outfits? I think I could add some more accessories.

So here I am, fashionably late to the show...

Hello :-)

I'm not quite so new to this blogging lark, I get started then other things get in the way or I'm not quite satisfied or I get self conscious. Usually just self conscious. I need to get over this and just say what I like and write about things that interest me and I want to talk about.

So here goes... The Pretty Crazy Awesome Things!

I like pretty clothes and make up but I'm still finding my fashion feet. I get what styles suit me and I know what I like, I guess I'm just not so defined. Maybe that's a good thing? I'm a size 16 - 20 depending on what I buy and where. I find it's best not to get too hung up on numbers in labels and just go by what fits best. I will try to make OOTD posts.

I am a fan of fun and crazy things, I have crazy moments, sometimes it's nice not to take life far too seriously!

I find a lot of things awesome but most of all I think it's good to do things that make us feel awesome. I use this word a lot. What do I think is awesome? When people think "screw what society expects me to look like, I'm just going to be myself..." Confidence is a big issue for me, which is the main reason for setting up my blog. I like to talk about things that can boost confidence, make us inspired and good about ourselves.

I've felt inspired by a few fashion and beauty blogs out there and wanted to start one of my own! So here I am, fashionably late to the blogging party.

So about about me...

I am Lindsay, a student nurse from the UK and 25 years old. I like socialising with friends, karate, music, reading magazines, swimming and walking. I am living with my parents at the moment whilst I'm studying but hoping to move back in with my partner of 4 and half years after I've finished. I am a fun loving person, outgoing and eclectic but I do have a serious and sometimes sensitive side.

I hope you enjoy my future posts.
